Counselor, listener, and honest voice:

Hi, I'm E.R. Duff. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (in training) and a National Certified Counselor, and I help adults work through the things that feel too heavy to carry alone.

Maybe you are dealing with anxiety that will not quiet down, a low mood that has settled in, or the weight of something painful from your past that still shapes your present. Maybe mental health struggles and substance use have started showing up together, tangled in ways that feel impossible to pull apart. Wherever you are, you do not have to have it figured out before you reach out. Figuring it out is what we do together.

My approach is warm, honest, and collaborative. Therapy is a collaborative process that shouldn’t involve talking down to people or treating anyone like a problem to be fixed. You are the expert on your own life. My job is to walk alongside you, help you make sense of what you are feeling, and build practical skills you can actually use. I draw on approaches with strong research behind them including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy. In plain terms, that means we look at what is happening, understand why, and find a way forward that fits who you are.

I have a particular heart for people navigating trauma and for those whose mental health and substance use overlap. These experiences can leave you feeling broken or ashamed. You are neither. Healing is possible, and you deserve a space where you can be fully honest without fear of judgment.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent years helping people access support, solve hard problems, and feel heard. That path taught me to listen closely, meet people with respect, and never lose sight of the human being in front of me. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and keep growing through ongoing supervision and learning.
